Olvita Cold-pressed, unrefined pumpkin seed oil is 100% oil from unroasted pumpkin seeds (Cucurbita pepo) of Polish origin. Cold-pressed by Olvita Gołuch in Marcinowice, Lower Silesia, with no additives, colourings or preservatives.

It has a dark green, dense colour and a characteristic sweetish, nutty flavour, typical of unroasted seeds. This is an oil that has been used for generations by the people of Slovakia, Austria and Styria – for them, it is a classic just as important as olive oil is for us.

Usage

Oil for cold dishes: salads, raw vegetable salads, toppings for cream soups, dressings. A classic use in Slovak, Austrian and Styrian cuisine – as a topping for bread with fresh quark or white cheese with paprika. The sweet, nutty profile suits Asian cuisine. Not suitable for frying – unrefined oil degrades at high temperatures. Vegan.

Directions for use

Cold: 1 tablespoon (12 g) per salad, raw vegetable salad, or as a topping for pumpkin soup or goulash (after cooking). Dressing: 2–3 tablespoons of oil + 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar + salt and pepper.

Straight away: a teaspoon on a slice of wholemeal bread with white cheese – a Slovak classic. A 500 ml bottle is enough for approx. 40 servings.

Storage

Store in a dark, cool place. Once opened, store in the fridge. The oil may become cloudy or solidify at low temperatures – this is a natural phenomenon and is fully reversible.
