Vitaler's Shiitake capsules contain shiitake fruiting body extract (Lentinula edodes), the mushroom well known from Asian cuisine. One capsule provides 400 mg of extract standardised to 40% polysaccharides, which gives 160 mg. The formula is simple: the extract and a plant-based capsule shell. At one capsule a day the pack lasts two months, and the product is suitable for vegans.

About the product

Shiitake is one of the most widely cultivated edible mushrooms in the world. In China and Japan it has been grown for centuries on hardwood logs, and today mostly on a sawdust substrate. In the kitchen it is valued for its intense, savoury flavour. The capsules contain not dried mushroom but an extract from the fruiting bodies, the above-ground part with the cap. The extract is standardised to 40% polysaccharides, so every batch has the same content of these complex sugars: 160 mg in one capsule. The label states polysaccharides as a total, without separating out beta-glucans.
